Heath Bar
Heath is a candy brand known for its toffee and chocolate bars. Established in 1928 by Bayard and Everett Heath, the Heath bar was initially marketed as "Heath English Toffee" and later became known as "America's Finest."
The Heath brothers developed the candy bar in their family's confectionery business, L.S. Heath & Sons, Inc., in Robinson, Illinois. Until 1942, the candy bars were made by hand using traditional methods such as a copper kettle, stirring paddle, marble slab, and a rolling knife. The Heath bar consists of a thin layer of toffee wrapped in a smooth layer of milk chocolate.
The Heath bar gained popularity during World War I and was included in soldiers' rations due to its portability and durability. In 1989, the Heath family sold their business to Leaf Inc., and in 1996, The Hershey Company acquired Leaf Inc., making Hershey the current manufacturer of Heath bars.
Today, Heath bars remain popular candy bars, often used in dessert recipes or crumbled up and sprinkled on ice cream. The brand has also introduced variations such as Heath Milk Chocolate with Peanuts, Heath Milk Chocolate Toffee Crunch, and Heath Milk Chocolate with Natural Cereal and Raisins.
