Over the years, the brand has changed hands several times, with notable acquisitions by Ward Candy Company in 1969, Nestlé in 1984, Pearson's Candy Company in May 2013, and Spangler Candy Company in November 2020.

During its tenure under Ward Candy Company, the brand experimented with different flavors, including Bit-O-Chocolate, Bit-O-Peanut Butter, and Bit-O-Licorice. However, these variations were short-lived, and the original honey and almond combination remained the most popular.

Bit-O-Honey's packaging has undergone a few updates, including a bold new look in 2023. Despite these changes, the brand has stayed true to its original recipe, maintaining its status as a beloved and enduring candy in the American confectionery market.
